A Letter from the Rector - Friday, March 27th, 2020
March 28, 2020, 7:36 PM

Dear Church Family:

Hope all of you are staying well and attending to precautions for your safety and that of others. Though we are separated by physical distances, we are not totally disconnected and there are ways we might consider for continuing community and fellowship activities Sunday services will be prerecorded during the week and a link will be forwarded to you to access the recording.

I encourage you to “gather” at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings to watch the service. This will continue to give us a sense of community worshipping together. It also provides the opportunity to share the communion in one kind at the same time if you decide to pick up consecrated wafers from the church.

My biggest concern is that many of our parish families do not have computers which will prevent them from participating in several activities, but we are trying to reach out to them via phone to help them connect as possible. Please let us know of any situations that may require additional consideration.

The suggestions below offer additional opportunities for members to participate as they choose. Please consider each activity and let us know of your interests and we will make the necessary arrangements. Hopefully, they will bring about continuing communication among us for the foreseeable future:

Sunday Morning Fellowship: Following the prerecorded service at 10:00 a.m. those who are interested will come together via FreeConferenceCall.com to share conversation and their own refreshment. Please see Heidi’s message for further instructions to take you step by step by phone or computer to access the gathering.

Foyer Groups: Parishioners have been assigned to small groups through which they may stay in contact with one another. Members of each group will make their own determination as to the meeting times and content. The listing will be sent out of the assignments for foyer groups. Each group may begin to communicate by phone as they decide.

Outreach: This is another opportunity to reach out to one another. Call a friend and someone with whom you are not well acquainted. The purpose is to reach out for conversation and draw us closer together. Contact Heidi if you would like a copy of the Parish Directory.

Bible Study: Bible Study, Wednesdays at 12 noon, will be held via FreeConferenceCall.com.

Vestry Meetings: Since we are not gathering on Sunday mornings, vestry meetings will be held via video conferencing on the second Wednesday of April and May beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Finance Committee Meetings: Dates and times will be determined.

Food Pantry: More than ever before, food is needed by those who come to St. Mark’s Food Pantry on Fridays. Please bring your donations of canned goods to the church on Tuesday, Mar. 31, 10am-12pm, or on Fridays 11am-1pm.

Other Possibilities to Stay Connected: prayer groups, book study, a virtual hymn sing. If you would like to organize this, please contact Heidi.

Offerings: The church will continue to function and needs your offerings and gifts. You may mail them; drop them off at the office on Tuesday, Mar. 31, 10:00 a.m. – 12 noon; or send them via PayPal through our website.

Communion: In order to share communion in one kind, you may pick up consecrated wafers on Tuesday, Mar. 31, 10:00 a.m. – 12 noon. They will be for use on Sunday morning during the service. Please let Heidi know the number of people in your family so we can plan accordingly.
